Chris Dorsey is a seasoned Texas attorney whose legal career has spanned more than 20 years in civil and criminal litigation, government law, and appellate practice. A proud native of Corpus Christi, Chris was raised in a service-oriented household and educated in the local public schools—Menger Elementary, Hamlin Middle School, Baker, and W.B. Ray High School. His deep ties to the Coastal Bend region and its people continue to influence his commitment to public service and the law.

Chris began his academic journey at Del Mar College and Loyola University New Orleans before earning his bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin. As a testament to his drive and determination, he worked two full-time jobs while completing his undergraduate studies. That grit and work ethic carried him to the University of Houston Law Center, where he graduated with honors in 2002. While there, he distinguished himself as a Law Review Associate Editor, Law School Ambassador, member of the traveling Mock Trial Team, and was inducted into the prestigious Order of the Barons.

After law school, Chris began practicing commercial litigation at the Houston law firm of Clements, O’Neil, Pierce, Wilson and Fulkerson. He trained under John O’Neil, a former clerk to U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice William Rehnquist, and was involved in high-profile litigation including the $500 million Lerma v. Merrill Lynch broker mismanagement case, featured inThe Wall Street Journal and Forbes. His clients included Anadarko, Gyrodata, ExxonMobil, and even members of Destiny’s Child.

Following the birth of his first child, Chris returned home to Corpus Christi to raise his family and continue his legal career. He joined the firm of Hornblower Manning and Ward and later served as an Assistant District Attorney for Nueces County, where he was promoted to gang prosecutor and tried a wide range of serious felony cases, including capital murder. For nearly a decade, he also practiced law alongside his father, a former appellate court judge, handling complex civil and criminal trials across Texas. His cases have appeared in Dateline, 20/20, and Forbes, which profiled his successful FINRA arbitration win against Morgan Stanley.

Chris has briefed and argued numerous appeals and successfully reversed a life sentence in the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals. He has served as an adjunct professor at Del Mar College and frequently presents to legal professionals on criminal defense strategy and government law.

Currently, Chris serves as Head of Legal and Governmental Affairs for San Patricio County, where he advises the County Judge and Commissioners Court on contracts, employment law, risk management, and other governmental issues. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas, Corpus Christi Bar Association, and is licensed to practice before the U.S. Southern District of Texas and the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Chris has been married to Jenny Dorsey since 2001. They have four sons—Joseph, James, Jackson, and John—all raised in the Coastal Bend, three of whom have graduated from London High School.
